It is fine as long as you are just passing the disks directly to the OS. Do not use hardware raid for data storage.

1·7 days agoI would do a outdoor POE camera connected back inside to a WiFi router running OpenWRT. You can then set it up as a WiFi client (base station) and a VPN tunnel.
I would also look into Netbird since it is easier to manage.

You need ddr5 with lots of memory channels for it to he useful

Hardware raid doesn’t do much to stop silent corruption. At the very least you want to run something like btrfs on top of it.
