I saw a figure from the Guardian: over 320k detentions and deportations last year.
That’s already deep into false positive territory for the legal citizen metric.
I couldn’t find an exact figure, because this headline made me a bit too sick to continue:

And that was just in ICE Custody. It doesn’t include CECOT and wherever else people were deported to.

Statistically, a third of US adults have a record, so this is expected.
Is it that high now? Last figures I saw were about a decade ago, but it indicated that 1/4 of the population would have at least one incident that put them on probation, or incarcerated in their lives.
The stat I read was from 2015. That includes anyone who was arrested and charged, even if they were not convicted though.
