The mayor of Portland, Oregon, demanded U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement leave his city after federal agents launched tear gas at a crowd of demonstrators — including young children — outside an ICE facility during a weekend protest that he characterized as peaceful.
Witnesses said agents deployed tear gas, pepper balls and rubber bullets as thousands of marchers arrived at the South Waterfront facility on Saturday. Erin Hoover Barnett, a former OregonLive reporter who joined the protest, said she was about 100 yards (90 meters) from the building when “what looked like two guys with rocket launchers” started dousing the crowd with gas.
“To be among parents frantically trying to tend to little children in strollers, people using motorized carts trying to navigate as the rest of us staggered in retreat, unsure of how to get to safety, was terrifying,” Barnett wrote in an email to OregonLive.

You can’t trust the cops and ICE not to work together. There’s going to be fascists in both groups. So any command you give the cops will be immediately known to ICE and they have far more budget than most cities.
This is why the main way to deal with it would be to other city workers and then have the cops cover them if there’s an issue. Keep the cops mostly in the dark.
Generally true, but I’m hearing that regular cops are not pleased with the tactics of the ICE Apes. Literally everyone in a law enforcement category, right on up to the military, are disgusted by these idiots. The few cops that agree with them have been getting fat signing bonuses and lots of perks to join ICE, clearing the worst from the ranks.
You can tell a cop to go arrest an ice agent and if they don’t they lose their job. It’s doesn’t matter if they get a heads up, the building is right there.
I get that you’re saying ACAB, and yes I agree, but you’re losing an entire very powerful tool just because you thumb your nose at them.
This is one of the reasons Portland is going to be decimated by ICE before the midterms.
