    I recently read this fantastic post by a fellow lemming regarding the modern advertising landscape (using advertising in the most generic sense), and this paragraph really sums up what I think is the root cause of this infuriating unspoken commitment to inaction (emphasis mine):

    Even if you ignore the ads, the tone they normalize leaks outward. The expectation that everything should acknowledge the problem while changing nothing. The reflex to treat moral language as branding. The sense that awareness itself counts as action.

    Seriously though, go read the whole thing.
