I know somebody who got postpartum psychosis and spent time in a mental health hold because she was seeing and hearing shit that wasn’t real.

Expectations pre event and reality post event can result in real whiplash. This could be any life-changing event like a career move, changing cities, relationships, etc.
In relationships, it can be due to rose colored glasses but for parenthood, it’s a trial by fire. There’s no test run like a live-in relationship.
And all of this ignores the hormonal changes which are have quite complex effects and are not fully understood.
