25 years ago, one of the most symbolic moments in space robotics history took place when astronaut Chris Hadfield used Canadarm to hand off equipment to the newly installed Canadarm2 creating an iconic “handshake” between two generations of Canadian space robotics in orbit.
More than machinery, it marked the beginning of a new era in robotic space operations that would help build and maintain the International Space Station for decades.
