Why am I still faster than you?
E: Let’s all talk about what bikes should or shoudn’t cost
Welcome to the Netherlands, where normal bikes are 300 euros and we transport a bookcase with them
commute and work deliveries on a 90’s hardrock that i pulled out of the trash.
NGL, if I owned a $10k bike, I’d be too worried to even ride it. I’ve heard of carbon bikes snapping from simply being knocked the wrong way. LOL
I get stressed out leaving my cheap hybrid out even with two locks. In my city, a $10k would disappear real fast. I don’t need that stress.
The current bicycle market appears to be operating under the assumption that transportation is a competitive sport. A thousand dollars? Ten thousand? I’m still clinging to a 2012 Diamondback Edgewood, a testament to a time when a bicycle was useful. It cost approximately the price of a decent dinner twelve years ago, and continues to function with an almost unsettling degree of competence.
I wonder if the pursuit of ‘premium’ has simply resulted in a more elaborate way to experience mechanical failure.
