Posted: June 1, 2026 8:45 pm ET | Last Updated: June 1, 2026 8:59 pm ET | NASA is backing off its proposal to build a government module to attach to the ISS to serve as a temporary home for commercial space stations or CLDs. NASA's March 24, 2026 proposal received strong pushback from companies already building CLDs who want NASA to stick with the existing plan.
The whiplash sucks, but I prefer the future with a bunch of stations. Hopefully at least some of these materialize. It seems like there’s more demand for the ISS PAMs, so hopefully the business case works out for some of these.
