I make regular use of both Google Maps’ Timeline feature and Google Maps Location Sharing feature.
Timeline lets me review where I’ve been, which is useful for tracking when I left for work and when I return in order to log my hours after the fact. Location sharing lets me see where my partner is, and when they’re on their way home or to meet me somewhere. Can folks recommend alternatives to both of these? They don’t need to be one single system or app.

Just do this in combination with Colota. Never regretted hosting this, also while you doing it export all your Google timeline history and import it. The first time you’ll see your full dataset you’ll get sick about the amount of pinpoints. 🫣
