Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has unveiled the construction of a gallows to hang Palestinian prisoners, built inside a newly completed death-row wing in a prison in central Israel and fitted with viewing booths for spectators to watch the executions.

Ben-Gvir’s office announced on Tuesday that the execution facility was being built within an already-constructed death-row wing, boasting that the minister had delivered on his promises. He said he had pledged to worsen the conditions of Palestinian prisoners and had done so, had pledged to pass the death penalty law and had done so, and that now the death row and the hanging facility were taking shape as well. He declared that the prisoners deserved only one thing, death by hanging, and said Israel was making history.
