The average CEO of the US’s 100 largest, lowest-paying corporations earned 614 times more than their average worker last year, according to an analysis by the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS).
IPS’s latest executive excess report analyzed compensation at the 100 S&P 500 corporations with the lowest median worker pay. Between 2019 and 2025, CEO compensation increased 41.4%, unadjusted for inflation, twice as much as the median worker pay increased at these firms during the same period, at 20.7%.
Inflation also outpaced worker pay increases, rising by 25.9%.
The CEO-to-worker pay ratio at the low-wage 100 firms increased 8.4% between 2019 and 2025.

Almost none of these CEOs are billionaires though.
That’s not taking their portfolio into account. A lot of CEO compensation isn’t in cash. Bezos only had like an $80k salary as CEO of Amazon.

The CEO is a guy that started as an hourly employee in 1993, and his total compensation, including non-salary compensation and stock, is $29M.
And yes, the article does take their total compensation into account. That’s stated in the report the article talks about.
The average total CEO compensation of these 100 firms is $17M. That includes stock options and other perks.
I just saw some other propaganda saying how Walmart house brands are directly competing now and are actually good because the grandkids are involved with the company at the product level.
