Donald Trump asked the Smithsonian Institution to install a 30ft “Colossus statue” of George Washington outside the National Museum of American History, and a special exhibit honoring the nation’s first president, in a social media post late on Friday.
The president requested that the exhibit continue through February 2032, the 300th anniversary of Washington’s birth.
“He is easily America’s Greatest Hero. Without him, our Country and our Freedoms wouldn’t exist,” Trump posted on Truth Social as he flew to his golf course in Ireland.
The statue of Washington would replace the current Infinity sculpture by New York artist José de Rivera, commissioned by the federal government and installed in 1967.
…
For a country that prides itself on getting rid of kings, it sure as hell treats its first president as a demigod.
It’s one of our society’s many nonsensical incongruities
Does this asshole ever focus on doing the job for the benefit of all Americans?
This bullshit about the decor of the WH, or the reflecting pool’s color, or a stupid ballroom, or the arch, or putting his goddamned name on the Kennedy Center and fucking around with all this culture war stuff is all about his stupid ego and I don’t want to see any of it.
Has he even spent a minute on trying to make anything affordable?
Has he even spent a minute on trying to make anything affordable
well, yea. he has, and he is…
the scraps of america, after the collapse, will be ridiculously ‘affordable’ to those that still have the means to buy it all up for pennies on the dollar.
No way that man builds a statue to anyone but himself. I guarantee the design will change.
What he really want is a colossus statue of himself.
Pretty much the default for a collosal fat fuck asshole himself.
Your SNAP and Medicaid dollars hard at work.
And distraction.
Washington, Washington - 6 ft 8, weighs a fucking ton…
Lmao this is exactly the first thing that came to mind when I read that
Opponents beware!Opponents beware!
He’ll save children! But not the British children!
Washington, Washington, fifty feet tall, made of radiation.
In case you were thinking he’s being vindictive about the subject of the sculpture or its artist, it’s just a garden-variety abstract sculpture, and José de Rivera is just some artist from Baton Rouge, Louisiana

José de Rivera’s Infinity seems almost impossible - the thin stainless steel ribbon rotates on top of its granite pedestal with total stability. Standing at 13½ feet tall, the delicate balancing act is one that repeats every 6 minutes as the ribbon completes its revolution. The ribbon’s design as a mobius strip (a surface with one continuous side formed by joining its ends after twisting one side 180°) creates an infinite loop, allowing it to rotate without interruption. Completed in 1967 and facing the National Mall, the intriguing sculpture has since attracted the attention of visitors to the National Museum of American History. The sculpture, the first abstract work commissioned by the federal government in DC, represents time and technology, with the stainless steel ribbon symbolizing the continuous movement of both. The sculpture was fitting, for at the time of its unveiling, the National Museum of American History was named the National Museum of History and Technology.
He is easily America’s Greatest Hero
No, that was another guy
Look at what’s happened to me,
I can’t believe it myself.
Suddenly I’m up on top of the world, It should’ve been somebody else.
Believe it or not,
I’m walking on air.is this Trump’s theme song, too?
Ralph Hinkley?
Only in the first season.
iirc they edited-in a changed last name only for a couple episodes of season one
He became Mr. H to his students for a while, and was later referred to as Ralph Hanley.
What y’all wanna bet he will try and swap the face to his own last minute.
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
- Wayne Gretzky
- Michael Scott
- Donald Trump
You give up 75% of the possessions where you miss a shot
They can easily delay this for a couple of years while they plan, commission an artist, reject the artist’s proposal maquette, commission a new artist, etc.
This is the same dude that just tore down a wing of the white house. He doesn’t plan he’s going to order it happening with our money right now.
And he can just do it without the parliamenarian, without a supermajority, without asking every member of the DEA first.
In theory, we have all these checks in place to stop this sort of thing. In practice, they only function to stop things that might help Americans.
In theory I don’t think we really do though. When you get to a position as high as the president I think the assumption is that we wouldn’t elect such an irresponsible insane moron.
I mean yes, there are checks and balances, but consider for a minute enforcement. The judicial branch barely has anything to compel somebody to behave.
Unfortunately we’re in a position where the president will literally just say “make me.” We’re dealing with an unprecedented world where the leader of the country literally needs repercussions for his actions or he’ll do whatever he pleases.
The checks didn’t stop the arms sales for genocide under biden either.
If you think we are anywhere near the antics of any other president you are insane.
Did I say that?
It had a pretty serious whatabout feeling to it.
He knows a guy who happens to be his friend who can make it for the low cost of 750billion
