Believe it or not, most of the US has the age of consent below 18, even before factoring in Romeo and Juliette laws. I’m sure there are some restrictions on making use of that information, use of sex toys being banned being one of them if I recall and making porn being banned until 18 regardless, but 18 is hardly a universal thing even here.
Might I suggest trying to update the app, both the pre-patched one and the patches applied.
I’m not talking about on mobile, I mean I’m being locked out of new reddit even on desktop.
It’s also been forcing login to access new reddit, so as far as I can tell the site is just completely unusable for anyone without an account.
Reading through the executive order I see three categories of people it’s trying to affect.
“Terrorists”. This is the category I expect to be used first, and as such is the one I expect to get struck down first.
Diplomats and other individuals with diplomatic immunity. This one frankly I assumed already didn’t get birthright citizenship, as my reading of the “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” clause was that it was these people it was excluding.
“Birth Tourists”. This is the one that I have been exposed to the most fearmongering about. To be frank I am skeptical it happens often enough to matter, and the government would probably fare better simply denying access to the country anyone pregnant enough for it to come up. I also expect this part of the order to be struck down the moment an attempt is made to apply it.
That’s all assuming the order doesn’t get suspended and subsequently struck down by the courts immediately, which is unlikely.
I would assume they aren’t bothering to scan it if it’s in the public domain. Much easier to just grab a copy off archive.org or any other website hosting such things, and that’s assuming the entirety of the public domain isn’t already in the training set.
IIRC destruction of the physical copy to prevent resale while still possessing a copy is required for book scanning to be free use, or otherwise not encounter problems with copyright law. Proceeding to share/distribute those scans, or especially trying to charge money for them, would encounter those exact same copyright barriers.
While that would be nice, unfortunately it would almost certainly run into the very same legal issues that are also causing them to pulp the books after scanning them.
I was also prompted to log into the new reddit earlier today (as in full blocking login popup of the kind you see with news paywalls), so even that is off the table.

It takes more than minutes, especially with an OS that doesn’t have a back door built into it. Also that’s a forensic tool, IIRC those require a warrant to use.
Since they just let him walk after the phone wiped itself, they clearly didn’t actually believe he was a risk of any kind. If there was any actual reason for suspicion they would/should have detained him outright.
Friendly reminder that, per the fifth amendment, you are not required to disclose your passwords to the authorities under any circumstances. This protection does not apply to biometric authentication, so don’t enable those methods.
When it is said that anyone can do x, I generally take that to mean that the means and methods are available to everyone if they cared to look, not that everyone already knows how to do that thing.

Leap year is the term for the year a leap day occurs in. I also don’t believe there have ever been full leap minutes, just leap seconds.
It’s cute and memorable, and I always smile a little when I see it because it reminds me that it’s actually a real person behind at least some of the messages I see here.
A bigger reason is that nobody should trust the government to define porn for the purpose of classifying porn as restricted speech, just because there are too many important edge cases, especially regarding health information.
You have clearly and concisely explained the exact reason the US wouldn’t and couldn’t allow China to invade Taiwan (well, wouldn’t under a rational administration).
I prefer that to there being some requirement that you provide identification to access the audit logs. Actually, what I would really prefer would be for there to be no need for audit logs in the first place, if there were no system to be audited.
