hardware compatibility is only one part of the problem. the other is binary compatibility. vendors are not going to ship binaries for a range of linux distributions and versions. vendors are not going to ship source code. and if they do, it’s going to be a pain to get it to compile (e.g. trying to compile epson scan 2 on arch right now and grappling with a boost version that is too new).

the russian administration had a huge influence in syria when assad was still in power. with russian military at it’s doorstep and allowing israel to strike hezbollah without repercussions, there was of course an incentive to be on good terms with russia.

israel is a working democracy that acts as a safe space for jews. before the genocide committed by hamas on 7th oct 2023, there were widespread protests against the right-wing government. it is not an “extremist jewish” state. as in similar cases (9/11 attack on twin towers), civil society closed ranks after the attacks, which severely weakened the protests.

What mrdown wrote, especially in this context, is a thinly veiled threat of murder. That is censorship, not a “consequence”.
