Everyone arguing for “war” or direct violent confrontation either hasn’t fully thought it through, is actively trying to weaken the country, or is speaking with emotion, not brains.

Do really you think when fighting breaks out, people are just gonna rally to your cause like patriotic Americans? Or that Republicans will have a change of heart at the thought of killing their fellow Americans? Maybe the military will spring a coup d’etat because Trump goes too far? Delusion. All delusion.

Any group that’s still active and outside by morning will be a target for a regime itching for an excuse to pull the trigger, with no safeguards to stop them. It doesn’t even need to be all that violent: they just need a sliver of a chance to propagandize it as violent. No “autonomous zone” fantasy land bullshit this time. The American Tank Man will be steamrolled right over by an MRAP that doesn’t even slow down.

People reference the American Revolution a lot lately. But read a book: it was preceded by years of planning, organizing, stockpiling, and training. Farmer John Puritan didn’t just wake up one morning in 1775 to grab a musket and kick a red coat in the nuts.

If you’re thinking of violence, wait just a moment and think about steps 2 and 3.

The South was never properly reconstructed. We got rid of legal slavery, granted the right to vote, and then fucked off back to the North. That’s why the South is the butt of every joke about education, poverty, and provincialism. And those factors combine to make it a breeding ground for those ideologies.

And the South is Trump’s powerbase. It’s where he gets all his ICE agents, his grip on the Senate, House, and EC, etc.

Obstacles to what exactly? This redeployment isn’t about immigration enforcement; it’s about intimidating and arresting (and registering!) protestors. Minneapolis is a target rich environment for the fascists and they’re expecting a huge return on their investment. Strategically, it gets Trump closer to a sustained violent confrontation which will be a landslide victory for him.
