If an AI can effectively do your coursework, why wouldn’t AI replace you in the industry?

Why is it that only the larger cloud providers are acceptable? What’s wrong with one of the smaller providers like Linode/Akamai? There are a lot of crappy options, but also plenty of decent ones. If you build your infrastructure over a few different providers, you’ll pay more upfront in engineering time, but you’ll get a lot more flexibility.

For something like Signal, it should be pretty easy to build this type of redundancy since data storage is minimal and sending messages probably doesn’t need to use that data storage.

FUTO is a force for good IMO, even though I disagree with their approach. I use:

• Grayjay - way nicer than NewPipe and works with a bunch of services
• FUTO Keyboard - best keyboard alternative for swipe typing IMO
• Polycentric - I’ve posted a bit through Grayjay and want it to catch on

I wish their software was FOSS, but at least it’s source available and I think they fixed it to allow noncommercial redistribution of modifications. It’s not perfect, but it’s a force for a good.

That sounds overly complicated, why get VMs involved? Just install Debian or something and get things working.

Proxmox is good if you know you want multiple VMs running for specialized needs. But multiple VMs isn’t happening on 4GB RAM.

I’ve thought about this idea for my own project, and my best solution is to have a network of trust where people rely on curation from their peers and thus only see the content their peers have approved.

The main benefit is also the main downside: content you disagree with is still there, you just don’t see it. That means there could absolutely be pockets of CSAM and other content on the network, but your average user wouldn’t have that on their system since they only store curated content.

I’m not sure how I feel about that, but I think it’s the best you can do without centralized moderation.

I’m still wondering what Java’s niche is, it seems like it does everything, but nothing particularly well. I guess it found a home on Android, but I don’t think that’s because it’s particularly well-suited for it.
