It’s obviously created as a companion to the “Jewish Games” video. But it really stands so much on its own I thought it worth sharing separately from that video’s comment thread.
I had no idea that games designed to be played only in extremely limited & controlled situations were such a common thing. With Train in particular, it sounds like it would be a fascinating game to play. But only if you somehow went into it without knowing what it was.
This was a really great discussion. I can’t believe I haven’t heard of Dog Eat Dog; what an incredible piece of art.
I do think Train has this issue of framing: the perpetrators of the holocost did know. So a player of Train is definitely not in the position they were in; they don’t get a sense of what that was like, which is what the author seems to have intended.
