The US Navy has denied reports of food shortages on board two major vessels participating in the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Yesterday USA Today reported crew aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli were not getting enough to eat.
One photo taken by a Marine showed a mostly empty lunch tray with a single scoop of shredded meat and one tortilla.

There’s a proper photo of the tortilla in the article. That grey thing is “unidentified” meat.
There are two photos that have been going around. One is a tray that has just a lump of minced meat and a couple tortillas, the other has a gray slab, minced meat, and boiled carrots.
And both are in the article for the small minority that manages to click the link
I love how to this day, no one can tell what that gray slab on the tray is.
Looks similar to the packaged gyro strips I buy, but you need more than one for a gyro.
Oh OK. In the picture I thought it was some kind of weird fish slice.
It looks like a whetstone. At this rate, the sailors will need to sharpen their implements and start hunting each other for sustenance…
One folded tortilla; apparently the grey thing is “gyro meat,” that’s not been shredded and reheated on a flat grill.
Meat is not flat, gray, and shiny
