The Trump administration’s attempt to prosecute alleged “vandalism” at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool hit a snag Thursday.

U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro attempted to bar former U.S. Olympic canoeist David Hearn from the pool after he pleaded not guilty to damaging it, only to be rebuffed by D.C. Superior Court Judge Carmen McLean.

“The government’s evidence is weak,” one of Hearn’s attorneys, Mary Dohrmann, argued in court.

Another of Hearn’s attorneys, Norm Eisen, said, “Every American should be alarmed about this prosecution. It is not a crime to touch the Reflecting Pool.”

Trump now insists that the pool is fine, even as he is draining it once again.

Well, if the pool is empty, it’s (at least mostly) algae free. Also, the blue coating is resting at the bottom of the pool, as was intended. Therefore, the pool is indeed fine, as Trump said.

Trump is fighting a two front war: one with Iran, the other with algae. He should sign a MoU with the algae until the Iran front is resolved.

This guy has devoted his life to representing this nation, and volunteers significant time to maintain and care for National Park Service Property. One day he rides his bike over to the RP to see what everyone is talking about, and reaches down to see what the big peel feels like, and the Goon Squad immediately scoops him up, and says “You are responsible for all of this!”

C’mon, be serious. This is beyond childish. Perhaps he ought to demand a full jury trial, and then do a ferocious forensic discovery on all the finances, communications, people, decisions, etc. related to this “renovation.” I think we’d find a LOT of crime.

At any rate, he absolutely should demand a jury trial. They’re going to have a very hard time finding 12 people willing to convict him on this bullshit.

These fucking jackasses. No one’s buying the vandalism claim so now it’s “fine” while they’re draining it.

If I were Trump I’d sell bottled algae-infused paint-peel “reflectivizing” Patriot Water to all my loyal supporters

Elect a clown, expect a circus.

When a clown sits on a throne, the clown does not become a king, the kingdom becomes a circus.

he is draining it once again

Is he doing to have his entire SS detail drive over it again, including his multi-ton reinforced limo?

There are so many ways to spin, squash, or fix this. Instead, they just roll with Trump’s projected narcissistic delusion as if everyone can’t look out the window and observe the state of a 2000 foot long pool.

This is the very definition of insanity.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’ve read the article twice now and am coming up blank. What was the “first big ask” that the Trump lawyers lost on?

I agree the case is bullshit. I was just hoping to read something about the judge pressing them on something and them failing to have an answer or something. The headline doesn’t seem to be explained in the article.

What a huge waste of the hard earned taxpayer’s money.

He should be ashamed of himself.
