So I finally got into tiling window managers and tried out hyprland. I spent quite a good amount configuring everything and there is still a hell of a lot more to do, but I am already loving the matching colors and the general look and feel.

    Xorg doesn’t get actively developed anymore. I don’t care about new features, but it’s going to get issues with security, compatibility and probably stability at some point. TBF, “at some point” does a lot of work here - I don’t believe that Wayland’s tighter security makes a difference (at least not right now), and I’m still on oldstable, too. So, realistically, I can wait until it’s actually an issue …

        Nah, i3 is pretty old and like most Xorg WMs, it has no plans for moving Wayland (AFAIK). But Sway is a drop-in replacement that works nearly the same and is even compatible with i3’s config files. I could switch today if there wasn’t all the other stuff that needs to be configured for Wayland (screenshots, clipboard, screenlocker etc.).
